New Web Campaign to Break the Cycle of
Youth Violence
In light of the gang violence crisis gripping the Lower
Mainland, The United Way of the Lower Mainland (UWLM) has launched
a web-based
campaign to provide a way for people to act together
and break the cycle of violence by investing in intervention and
prevention.
Recent research shows that early learning prevents youth
violence. And that every dollar invested in preventive
preschool programs produces a $7 benefit by the time the child is a
young adult, and a $13 benefit by the time he is a mature
adult.
For the month of March, the United Way is urging concerned
individuals to give as little as $10 and share this appeal with 10
others. By sending an e-mail with the website link to
your own networks of friends, families and colleagues, we can all
work together to act on the root cause of social problems and
support programs and services that make a difference.
Thank you for helping to spread the knowledge of this
campaign.
