SELF ADVOCATES

Self advocates are involved at all levels at BACI:
      - as individuals
      - as Vice Chair of BACI's Board of Directors
      - as members of all Advisory Committees

We’re involved on BACI’s Advocacy Committee, Accreditation Committee and Poverty Committee, and we’re working with the teens to help develop a new generation of leadership. When we can share our story with others, it inspires them to be leaders as well.

We've also been given the opportunity to contribute to BACI’s annual report.  We are assuming our place in the organization in the way that we should.

BACI helps give us more opportunities to be leaders outside the organization and to speak at important lobby meetings.  One of our self advocates has been a speaker in the United Way’s Speaker’s Bureau since 2003. He does such a good job that he keeps getting invited to come back!

Many of us have been successful in community living and in our personal life and career. Our dreams have turned out well.  We look forward to working with BACI in the future and continuing to be leaders for years to come.
